I work full time and treat it as a full time job. I do have a lot of flexibility to have long weekends or take time off when I need to.
Work when you want. Not work IF you want because there is never going to be good. But I can work the hours and days that are best for me every week.
As a stay at home dad 9at the time I started) it was the only way I could have launched a publication.
We work our own hours as contractors. No one ever requires presence at at training, any company meeting, etc... We are offered a choice as to whether or not to attend. Everything is voluntary, with exception of the production schedules, which of course have to have deadlines, or the magazines don't print.
We set our schedule. If I need time off for a family outing or a vacation or whatever... it's up to me. This isn't micro-management, it's being treated like a professional by other professionals.
