PERA Retirement is great after 5 years. Benefits such as ECO Bus Pass is provided even though it is unwanted and expensive, the money could go elsewhere to lower other benefit premiums.

The cost is very high compared to other countries or businesses.

PERA is the best thing in there

Flexible work schedule, 401K, PERA retirement, discounted life insurance and some departments allow pets at work, allowed to bring your infant to work until they can crawl! Great health and dental. Benefits advisory board allows you to help have a say. Orthodontics are only minimally covered.

compelled 8% contribution to pension plan. The best was that the County matched 8% and also paid into Social Security for us.

The best thing is tuition reimbursement and the RTD ECO Pass. The worst benefit is the mandatory pension and Social Security reductions.

Good benefits / PERA good medical

As an intern, I didn't receive any benefits. This is expected, although having a transportation stipend or some other benefit would have been nice.

What most people don't realize is if you work for Boulder County you will be paying into BOTH social security AND PERA for your retirement. This substantially reduces your paycheck by an additional 7% (approx). Other than this, the benefits are great, but were not enough to keep me.
