“Basic maternity and paternity leave package”
“Pretty easy to use, support from many hospitals/health facilities (dentist, occulist, etc)”
“Some decent but limited options with a 1% match”
Excellent parental leave. 3 months paid with benefits
Brightcove offers a funded hra or hsa which is great
HR team made a point to bring in specialists for retirement funds
Best - encouraging to take time off and use the vacation. Health options are decent Worst - 401k matching is very low and there are a lot of benefits that are not applicable if you have chosen not to have children.
Good selection of medical plans
Great benefits with the exception of the 401k match.
Unlimited vacation, Snacks, Holidays, 1% 401K match, Tuition Reimbursement
The Brightcove benefits are particularly complicated involving HRAs and HSAs. There are a lot of costs associated with paying for doctors visits after the HRA or HSA runs out. Recently, Brightcove cut the HMO plan and the HRA benefit for the PPO Preferred plan. The only remaining plans are the PPO Savers plan where you have to manage an HSA account for healthcare costs or the PPO Preferred plan which requires $4000 additional out-of-pocket costs before the deductible is hit. The PPO Preferred plan has a high monthly cost, making it a poor option for anyone. The PPO Savers plan seems to be the only viable option due to the Brightcove HSA contribution up to the deductible, but the major downfall is that after you hit the deductible, most medical costs are only 80% covered (with very few exceptions). Neither of the Brightcove plans are good for families and tend to be more suited to singles in their 20s. There has been a lot of negative feedback and complaints about the new plans and minor adjustments have been made, but overall, the medical benefits are the worst I've ever had at a tech company. Meeting with HR to attempt to chose a plan involved them defending the plan more than helping choose a good option. (There is no good option) On the positive side, they have unlimited vacation time (within reason). They have a great maternity and paternity leave program.
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts regarding Brightcove's medical plan options. Each year, we carefully review our offerings to ensure they support Brightcovers needs and provide competitive and above market coverage options on a global basis. We acknowledge everyone has different plan preferences based on their personal situations. The 2020 US Brightcove medical plans provide two plan options, both of which include generous company subsidies through an HRA or HSA funding and a shared premium that Brightcove pays the majority of. While we have had a significant amount of positive employee feedback to the 2020 plans options, we also recognize that for some figuring out the right choices is not as easy. With this in mind, we would be happy to sit down and help find the right solution that fit you and your family's needs.
Most employees will get unlimited PTO , but it will depend on the role Sometimes management can be difficult to approve this time off but overall it’s very flexible Working for home varies between teams as well, but very flexible. Most employees will WFH on Fridays
Unlimited vacation time (double edged sword), low 1% company match on 401K, tuition reimbursement for job related education, flexibility to work from home.
List based on reports from current and former employees. It may not be complete.
