Doesn't happen every year and if it does, taxes generally take over half of it. So when you see the bonus, usually a holiday bonus, take that whole amount and divide it by 3 to approximate how much you'll keep after taxes. Also, the whole company culture is kind of awkward with salaries/bonuses, so to avoid stares and questioning expressions, don't open it in the office when you get your 'bonus evelope.' Take it home and be tactful.
