As a federal employee you receive full health benefits, and 401k like plan and a pension.

For permanent FTEs, the dederal employee benefits package is overall quite good. The Human Resources department which is supposed to advise and support employees on benefits, is overworked, understaffed and generally (with a few exceptions) inaccessible for the support it is obligated to provide. This is particularly relevant to employee disputes, where staff routinely give up for lack of a response by this team.

Working as a student volunteer in CDC, they do not offer the benefits to non CDC employee. That is why I do not have anything to say about the benefits.
