“Required to work well into your 60s for half of your pay after 25 years, and pay that is 1/4th of private sector.”
“First $1000 per person is completely out of pocket, and then you have to pay 20% of costs. Many providers dont take the coverage too, I had to drive to another state to get into an urgent care.”

Everything about the California Highway Patrol is an excellent good thing and helps the people
The healthcare out of pocket expenses are nuts, the state pays $1200 a month, then you are responsible for the first $1000 per member out of pocket, and 20% of all costs after that. You have to pay 4% of your salary for these benefits in retirement. You also have to pay 10% of your pay for your retirement which is in addition to 4% social security, and the regular taxes and make much less than private sector. I was taxed at a 42% rate as a result. The pension is junk too, who wants to wrench on cars until they are 63 years old?
The vacation hours increase with your time there. The benefits package is not to special and you have a lot of options.
Great benefits. You can let your vacation bank build and use as much or as little as you want. You can take off a week - or 12 weeks in a row if you have the time on the books.
Health, dental, vision insurance, sick, vacation time off , and holidays. Retirement benefits. State employment with the ability to promote and transfer to other state departments.
5 weeks time off with personal days
