401k had no matching and did not have very good investment choices.
As long as my work was completed with skill and on time, I had great flexibility at setting my schedule.
The communications pipeline is not what is expected or achieved for a decent remote position and the ability to meet expectations. Although I was introduced to a mentor as well as a team lead mentor, the team lead / agile/JIRA mentor was OOO for the three weeks I stayed at Canonical. (One email communication).
It can be challenging to work from home, especially when many of your colleagues are on the other side of the world, but it does allow you the flexibility to make work fit around your life. Since most people at the company do work from home, there is great infrastructure to support this.
Working from home is wonderful! Opens the company to a much larger talent pool (you get to work with some very awesome and intelligent people) It DOES take some self discipline and isn't for everyone, but makes for a great work experience (as long as you can stay in touch with colleagues and periodically see them face to face at company meetings).
