Great benefits, nice PTO package as soon as you start, 17 days off plus 3 floating holidays, summers and end of year are slow so that helps work-life balance. Great medical benefits and other things, pension 8%.

Decent health insurance coverage. Out-of-pocket, add-on options for dental and vision. No retirement savings options for graduate students/teaching assistants. Pretty standard overall for grad students.

There was no such thing as a "bad" or negative thing when working at CMU. This was one the best jobs i've ever had - they are extremely generous!
