Highlight is 100% of employee health premiums paid. Lowlights are the very inflexible leave/sick policy and parental leave eligibility. Employees earn a certain number of hours of paid time off per month and can use it for any purpose, but will be held accountable for every hour taken (rounding up.) If you go over, staff have had to work on Saturdays and Sundays to get back into the black. This is especially hard on people with chronic health conditions or family obligations - ironic for a reproductive rights org. For parental leave, employees must work at CFC for at least a year to even qualify. One employee who became pregnant before she made the one year mark started working on weekends to make sure she had enough time “banked” just to make sure would be eligible by her due date. In the past, if new parents don’t stay for at least a year after they take their leave, they’ve been required to “pay back” the paid time taken.

Catholics for Choice response

Dear Former Employee, Thank you for taking time to provide feedback about our benefits. We very much appreciate the highlight you noted- we are pleased that we kept 100% health coverage despite massive increases in employer costs in recent years as well as staying with our provider to avoid any disruption to our employees choice of physician. We are developing action plans to address the Cons. We sincerely want CFC’s workplace to be more positive and with competitive benefits. We have made changes and we will make many more. While Social media is not an appropriate forum to discuss individual employees, some of the information presented and perceptions about decisions we made in your post are inaccurate. Thank you again for your feedback.
