Benefits are decent but have high deductibles, and the premium cost is also high.
The hours are great if you have family
All the paid holidays, especially during December and everything being included before taxes
State benefits are great! The vacation & sick time can't be beat! Only con, must pay in to state employee retirement plan and you are only vested after 5 years. Otherw pay into the state employee retirement fund which you are completely vested
Multiple plans to choose from for all levels of care and situation, Dental, Vision and several other supplemental insurances available. Able to become member of State Employees Credit Union.
Best - ability to take a class pr semester as a full time employee Not so best - NC State Health Plan , over the years the NC GA hve gutted our health care
The best thing is the prescription service and access to out of network providers, provision for child care and family members.
The retirement package is great. Dental for a single person is free and my health insurance is cheap. I have worked for other colleges and this is by far the best package.
As a Part time employee you get 0 benefits.
The benefits are provided by NC Blue Cross Blue Shield. The benefits are good but I still encounter problems trying to get medication filled in a timely manner, or having correct premiums charged. They confuse the employee with multiple "surveys" where some affect your premium and others do not. Your premiums will increase by 500% if you fail to fill out the correct one, and you cannot change it for a year. The vision insurance is grossly overpriced. The dental benefits are rather poor.
