The health insurance for the State Health plan is good. The dental insurance is a joke. Hardly covers anything. Dental plus not worth the cost.
The substitutes don't get any benefits because it's considered 'part time' because they only require us to work 4 days a month, but it's not fair to some of us who work 5 days/8hours a week.
The package is the same as CCSD.
Pensions. Yet have no idea how much is in it, they never send information. HMO for husband and I is $245 a month.
Considering that the county is made up of almost all female teachers...there was no coverage for gyno exams. Ridiculous. Completely out of pocket.
Little time off, and when you do use it, you are criticized for using it.

I did not use health insurance because at the time, I was on my husbands insurance. The vacation/PTO was pretty good. My biggest problem was that I could never get approval to actually use my PTO/vacation. I would ask a month in advance for time off for a doctors visit or ask 3 months out when I was planning a vacation, and my supervisor would not allow us to have time off because we were so understaffed. Very frustrating. Calling in sick was another "no no" for teachers.
