  • Health Insurance(9 comments)

“The cheapest plan still had a high deductible. With my low salary, I literally never went to the doctor during the 6 years of my employment.”

  • Retirement Plan(3 comments)

“Takes 5 years to be fully vested. Ridiculous.”

  • Sick Days(3 comments)

“Very hard to use sick days as a teacher. If we called in sick, we were basically berated. Even when we had our lesson plans turned in and everything...”

Every health plan has a minimum deduction of $500, which is absurd coming from the north.

the Health insurance is overly expensive. You have to reach the deductible of $445 per family member and out of pocket of $2,500 + before the insurance company starts paying towards claims.

The health insurance for the State Health plan is good. The dental insurance is a joke. Hardly covers anything. Dental plus not worth the cost.

StarStarStarStarStar Current Subsitute teacher. in Las Vegas, Nevada

The substitutes don't get any benefits because it's considered 'part time' because they only require us to work 4 days a month, but it's not fair to some of us who work 5 days/8hours a week.

StarStarStarStarStar Former Interventionist in Charleston, South Carolina

Considering that the county is made up of almost all female teachers...there was no coverage for gyno exams. Ridiculous. Completely out of pocket.

Little time off, and when you do use it, you are criticized for using it.

The health insurance and retirement packages were good and affordable. There is little in support to help you further your career as a teacher.
