    You don't start accumulating paid time off and vacation until you have been there for 6 months. So unless your direct supervisor is flexible - you won't get paid if you already had travel planned or an emergency arises.

Non-OT eligible positions get 15 days with less than 3 yrs of service, 18 days with 5-7 years of service, and 22 days for over 7 years of service. Plus 10 holidays and 12 days of sick leave per year.
