    Company recently changed to flexible personal time off as long as approved by manager. Health insurance includes HSA with Ltd FSA option.

    The benefits offered were very good. The downside is that every year the cost of health care went up and so the out of pocket costs for premiums and deductibles increased at the employees expense.

    Ciena salaries are no longer competitive even after supposed "market research". No cost of living adjustments or raises in years. I do not feel valued as an employee.

    Not sure why someone mentioned that "parental leaves suck in the US and Ciena is no exception"...Ciena offers all new mothers 18 weeks 100% paid maternity leave with a graduated return-to-work schedule over 6 months. ESPP benefit is amazing. Health insurance is on par with market for the tech industry. Pay is competitive (I'm not an engineer though). Work/life balance is great but kind of dependent on your team leader's perspective. Executive message is that you can work anywhere, anytime as long as you get your work done but that doesn't always filter down to every department. Culture overall is good - lots of friendly people. Great place to work - but be prepared to WORK.

    Overall, a very good, competitive benefits package. 401K with 50% match on the first 6% and a good selection of funds. High deductible insurance with HSA. Standard life insurance with option to increase. Discounted stock which purchased at the lower of stock price currently or 6 months earlier in the ESPP. Most roles can optionally work from home frequently and competitive PTO plan.
