Good retirement benefit plan for employees
Best thing is time off. Worse thing is insurance (health, dental, and vision). Very high deductibles, especially for medical and prescriptions. We might as well not have it because we won't meet the deductible in order for the insurance to start paying their 70%.
I have a neutral take on the city's benefits but I did really appreciate the TMRS which helped me put money away for retirement.
Lots of vacation time and sick time and family sick time , excellent contribution to retirement fund
As a full time employee, 7% of your salary will be automatically deducted and put into a retirement plan. The City doubles this contribution after 5 years employment. Many options available for health/vision/dental/cancer insurance. City also offers a plan for free counseling.
The City requires investment in the state municipal retirement fund, rather than allowing for other retirement options.
Great place to work, the pay is ok, but the benefits are spectacular. Work 20 years get 80% of your salary 25 years 100% or more. Retirement system is very reasonable
