New Mexico has one of the best benefits package and it was there for a long time. Fire and police can retire in 20 years everybody else 25 to 30 years.

The city has a super really great benefits package. There are lots of days off, and there is a great benefits package for health insurance and such. One thing is the city employees are all covered by unions, so the unions negotiate pretty good benefit packages.
The best thing about working for the City of Albuquerque is definitely their insurance plan. No matter what position you hold, you have the choice between three plans in Presbyterian. As of 2015, I have a $100 deductible...that is SUPER cheap.
