Great health insurance. Premiums are cheap & coverage is comprehensive. Dental not so good. Everything else is good. Staff for benefits are overwhelmed and enrollment is on paper. You have to go in person in order to make any changes. Get ready for the circus.

The benefits package is quite extensive and comprehensive. It's a nice benefits package for those beginning their career, as well as those ending their career in public service. Public servants are rumored to not make much money. This is categorically not true with City of Austin. Pay is great and experience (in lieu of education) is generally used to calculate earnings.

The benefits package and tenure with the City is what keeps many people employed with the City.

Benefits are really good, as one would expect. The health insurance is expensive for families, but it is everywhere.
