They are a member of the PERS retirement system for the state of Nevada. You cant withdraw early from this plan it’s worth nothing until you retire or disabled. Some school districts require employees to contribute and they can withdraw.

There is an excellent pension plan for anyone who stays for a minimum of five years.
The retirement is great. build up your hours as much as possible because in the end you can buy retirement years. horrible union though
It is a very good set up
District pays all, you contribute nothing! Vested after 5 years.
Excellent retirement plan. There are a lot of times the school district needs teachers badly. In desperate situations, they will continue to pay your retirement plus a full teacher's salary.
It seems the retirement plan is really pretty good if you are planning to stay for at least 5 years and are fully vested.
Employer contribution is much higher than other states.
PERS has its set of problems, and now the district has started passing on some of the costs to the teachers. It was supposed to be set, but they found a way around it.
