Health care is offered, vacation is good, the education stipend (about $5,500) can be used either to pay off student loan debt, or it can be applied to future schooling (often can be doubled!). School loan payments can be deferred while serving and the interest acquired can be paid by AmeriCorps during the term of service. In addition, more and more employers nation wide are adding a service preference on their job listing- that means that because I am an AC alum then I have a leg up on other applications through the door. The perks are great long term and you'll forever be apart of a network of people that believe in service.
They do not pay at the average for the position you are in.
Super basic healthcare is included as an AmeriCorps but it isn't great. 10 PTO days, pretty much standard holidays plus a flex holiday, sometimes there are free day-old bagels
I switched to College Bound health insurance and had terrible coverage.
