    AWesome medical benefits. 401k is lame, would rather have IRA option. Incentive pay is awesome, too.

    the flight benefits are wonderful for your family - there are multiple priority levels which can be 'unfair' to some employees allowing unaccompanied spouses of other (more tenured) employees priority.

    Well, the worst was as a member of management I did not get a raise for almost a decade due to 9/11 and then the downturn in the industry. I think I had lost all the management benefits (stand-by flight status, floating time off, amount of sick leave, pension plan, bonus pay reductions or some were eliminated) I had started with by the time I retired. And after the "merger" with United it just got crazier. We got a new bonus program one year, and the very next year over half the pay from our incentive bonus was taken back & our profit sharing was cut by 2/3's due to a clause in the mechanics contract. the good thing was we still got paid overtime when we had to work it, and there was always OT. I enjoyed it for the most part until the merger went thru. After that happened things got really warped trying to get the 2 airlines to become 1. Continental did not get the good end of that deal. It was just the sugar Daddy for United, getting all their a/c back up to maintenance standards and paying back all the benefits to their employees that had been lost during their bankrupt years. And the cultures were a full 180 degrees apart.. My last 4 years were not fun at all..

    Buddy pass system is the best and the worst thing limited days off to take advantage of these free trips and able to get back in time to get back to work due to priority seating and seniority.

    great health insurance at a reasonable monthly premium. 401k company match program. Four weeks paid vacation with option to purchase an extra week.

    The best part of working for the airlines are for the travel benefits. The freedom to fly anywhere the airline goes can not be beaten. But, you do need to choose off times, otherwise there may not be seats available.
