The county takes alot out of retirement. I have a small medical insurance plan. I have Kaiser plan B. I have no kids or family, so it works out fine.
Worst is Health insurance not necessarily cheaper than other companies. Best is Time off for vacation sick holidays generous.

Best -There are many paid time off buckets (Vacation, floating holiday, mgmt time), plus they still have a defined benefit plan (pension). Worst - Healthcare is super expensive and non-competitive with other Counties and private industry, educational benefits are bottom of the barrel.

11% of my pay is deducted for a 2% at age 55. Cost of medical is very high, my retirement money may not cover the cost of the co-pay of medical. Retirement medical is no longer offered to new hires. Incredibly high benefits package was implemented approximately 5 years ago.
