The health insurance premiums are too expensive for employees of much a large district. Teachers and other employees receive CHIP and Medicaid because they can’t afford coverage through the district’ plan.
Benefits were decent and cheap
Health insurance is average for most school districts. I never actually had to use mine while I was employed who DISD. I was only with the district for one semester.
Rates are outrageous! For a family, it seems better to go with an independent company outside of DISD. To get basic coverage eats up nearly half of a paycheck
Comprehensive coverage but high monthly premiums.
The worst I've seen ever.
It is costly if you have to add a spouse, but it is decent coverage.
High Costs limited packages, but good vacation time
THe premiums are high and the deductibles are too. For what you're paying, the coverage isn't great. And AETNA will remove a provider from the network without notifying you, leaving you to pay the entire bill the next time you go in.
Copays seem to be very high.
