It's better to sign up for a hospital based healthcare plan. Dallas ISD's plan hardly covers the cost of adequate healthcare. Paid time off for holidays and summer vacation is a plus but this is offered at all school districts

Not enough wage to pay for your insurance if you're a single parent and if you're there for years they don't give you a raise. They bring in temps and they are all Hispanic. If you are black, you don't have a chance ,O and don't be a honest person They Sure Don't Like That!!

Health Insurance is through TRS and has very high deductibles. PPO Dental Insurance does not cover very much, but prescription insurance is pretty good. Do not participate int he "sick bank". It is almost impossible to qualify for, but the concept is very good.

The opportunity to work with growing children and develop minds for the future. The worst is some of the children need more help than you have ever expected.

For the amount of people that DISD employs, you would think that they would have much more buying power and better plans for their employees. Given that their salaries aren't too competitive, you don't have much money if left in your pocket if you are purchasing health insurance through DISD as well.

.The insurance is very expensive for what you actually get.

The worst thing about the benefits package is that the health insurance is very expensive and the deductibles and out of pocket is very high. Also, the sick bank contribution is one day per year, whereas most other districts ask for a one time conttibution. The best thing about the benefits package is that they offer one.

Health insurance is costly and very limited. Salary is now TEI pay for performance so if you are a quality teacher you can make up to 5K extra each year. I went from 47K to 55K in 3 years. If you are bilingual you make an extra 3K a year.
