have to use your own sick leave since federal employees do not pay into short term state disability. If you don't have enough sick leave to cover your maternity you can request volunteer donations or you take it unpaid.
The best part is that both the mother and father may take this type of leave. I do not see where there is a worst part of this benefit.
Can use accrued annual and/or sick leave in order to be paid for the time instead of using leave without pay and not getting paid for the time off. Guaranteed, however, to have your current job back after maternity leave completed.
