Vacation is competing but paid time off/sick leave is minimal and employees face discipline if they call off sick more than 2x per year..

Not sufficient sick time given to employees

Great flexibility as a front line employee to trade and swap to get days covered or give them away for additional time off.

Weeks of vacation grow with seniority

StarStarStarStarStar Current Airline Pilot in Los Angeles, California

One of the perks of Airline flying is the time off (days off). But you have to remember that when you go to work you are gone for days of even weeks. No coming home at the end of the day to walk the dog or see your spouse or help your children do their homework. It's definitely a sacrifice for those stretches of days off. Vacation day pay is less than a normal day's pay.

StarStarStarStarStar Former Customer Service Representative in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

While I was working I thought the Vacations & without Pay Time Off was generous. It used to be you could earn up to 6 weeks off with time in service, then they cut it to 4 weeks, and I believe it is now either 2 or 3 weeks max. But if you work holidays you can choose either paid holidays or save the holiday to be used as vacation.
