Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha! Sorry this one made me laugh. My first year at DA, social events consisted of either a BYO or barbeque. The BBQ was consistently awful, undercooked meat tasting like lighter fluid. The BYO's can be nice but usually participation in any company social is on your computer-timed, 15 minute break (adjust for length of shift), or after shift end. Not a lot of socializing, stuff your face (if you dare) and go. Recently I had a pancake breakfast with 15 minutes on company time, which was not stellar, but a bit more relaxed, you could almost eat normally and say "hi" to the person next to you. And they splurged for some half decent pizza (on the client) to show us how much we are appreciated... Before finding the worse call you had all week and telling you everything you did wrong on it. They are big on taking your donation for various charitable causes, it seems every other week they want a couple dollars back from you to support one charity or another that they then claim credit for. Can fund raiser walks be considered a company sponsored social event? By comparison, the last company I was with had Friday lunches Catered 2-3 times a month and some really fun parties on holidays where they would shut down for the afternoon and everyone had a great time. That has never happened at DA to my knowledge.
