The benefits discovery offers are hard to compete with and the main reason people stick around. They have great paid leave, health benefits, parental leave, bonuses, etc. The only thing that can change is unused vacation. Their current policy is use it or lose it. Rolling over vacation or being paid out for unused days would be great.
It is rare to have work from home opportunities as an intern, so I really liked getting a feel for what that is like.
I think as far as a benefits package, Discovery offers one of the elite care packages. They range from everything, including a substantial 401k match, to all types of amazing insurances, to great PTO time to help you decompress or just simply get away.
Good work life balance, a lot of PTO
The benefits offered by Discovery were great.
Comprehensive package. Health, dental, vision, matching 401k
Through package that covers all the basic needs. Time off: 15 personal days off, 3 floating holidays and 10 calendar holidays. Health: many options - somewhat costly but covers all the needs with a high out of pocket expense. HSA card included - very useful. Vision and Dental: included. 401K: offered plus a match to the first 6%. (100% match to the first 4% and 50% to the remainder). Offered currently through Fidelity. Some can work from home (developer group) others not. Fertility Assistance offered. No Sabbatical or Apprenticeship Program offered.
The health insurance is United Health Care which doctors say is one of the worst to work with. Out of pocket expenses for health and dental are very high as well
Best benefits package I've had, working in TV. Full time employees have access to good health/dental/vision insurance, a 401K with a good match, and an ESPP.
Best Medical Benefits. Great Place to Work.
