Compared to Silicon Valley, Duo Security is lacking quite a bit with regards to benefits. That said, compared to most of the other businesses in the Midwest, Duo Security is above and beyond in almost every area.
Depending on your position/department, all non-commission employees are encouraged to take 3 weeks minimum of vacation. In addition that unplug time, I've never worked anywhere that makes dealing with day-to-day life issues (family illnesses, car trouble, medical appointments, etc) that so easy. A simple email or phone call to your manager letting them know and no questions asked. Personally, its helped me be far more productive, because I can focus on life stuff when I need to, it doesn't create distractions during work.
Core benefits are decent and the main things you'd expect are covered. The main downside is being a remote employee with an employer HQ'd in Michigan. The in-network options are more limited in California since there are other insurance providers that have a wider network here. The bigger benefits are with flexibility and in-office perks. The workplace in general is super flexible and the business allows to attend to personal things within reason as they conflict with a traditional work schedule. Similar to most start-ups in the Bay Area we have in-office snacks/drinks/coffee/beer etc. Meals are brought in relatively regularly as well.
Great office space. Unlimited PTO. Great maternity/paternity leave. Decent health insurance. Added 401K matching this year.
- Unlimited PTO is great, and is very well adopted by all leaders in each department - Medical and Dental insurance is limited
Most recently, I was able to take advantage of six weeks paid paternity leave, which was incredible
Unlimited paid time off. Flexible maternity & paternity leave. Unlimited sick days, too.
