They covered the employee but no portion of dependents
Hello, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are actively working on improving the benefits. Thank you again
Very little employer contribution. Plans had high deductibles. Expensive for family coverage
standard package for a startup
Awfully expensive if you are adding dependents.
New York Big Law
Interesting FT article today about London-based law firms struggling to fill associate positions. Any recent laterals or recruiters know the ease of lateraling as a NY big law associate? Are these roles entirely corporate or is there a need for litigators or white collar folks as well?
Long Beach, NY 🐠, What are your thoughts on the area? For context, I am in my late 20s, live in the city at the moment, and am looking into the idea of buying a second home in Long Beach. Any insights are welcome, particularly those relating relating to the quality of the beaches, the restaurants and bars, general atmosphere, and ease of travel to the city.
Personal Investment Chatter
🐠, how do you feel at ease enjoying the luck you’ve had and the fruits of your labors? I’m 28, single, and by all accounts financially thriving - on my way to $200k+ in income for 2022 and have a ~$300k net worth. Additionally, I happen to be the only child of well-off parents. However, I’m tortured by a slow start to my career that led me to bleed cash for years to live comfortably (no roommates, travel, going out) and the loss of 80% of my parents’ money relatively late in their lives.
Very poor benefits for employees and no coverage for families. Does't offer any of the more typical perks of working for a silicon valley start up.
Awesome dental plan that has great coverage.
Unclear 'unlimited vacation' policy - often left up to direct manager. Free lunch (weekly) and plenty of office snacks. Mediocre health insurance package.
PRO: PTO is untracked, not unlimited, after 90 days. So no accumulation to cash out if you leave, but reasonable PTO requests are accommodated. Dental is a good product at a reasonable price. CON: No 401K match Health Insurance is 90% paid for the employee, but no help for dependents, which adds up quickly.
No 401K match, no everyday lunch
No sick or vacation pay
