Decent health care package and use of gym for free
Benefits were subpar, pay was not enough to justify benefits provided.
Employee discount was very generous
When working full time, you get the opportunity to enroll in health care (also dental and vision) as well as their commuter card, which you can load up with money deducted tax-free from your paycheck. The benefit packages are not terrible, not fantastic, but you do get the choice to select the coverage you’d like. You also get the perks of working out in and using the facility (quality work out equipment, showers with Kiehls products, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, roof top deck, etc) while an employee at Equinox. Excluding blackout hours when the club is most busy. You also get a small discount at the cafe, which is great for lunch breaks or quick snacks before a shift. Overall pretty nice deal!
Was better last year when employees had access to all clubs now they only have access to the one they work at. Having access to all the clubs was a better benefit to the way they pay employees (which is low if your not a trainer or GM) now it’s not even that great working here.
You have minimal vacation time. After 3 years, I received 2 weeks off and they don't let you take it all at once.
As a trainer or instructor it's difficult to get enough weekly hours/clients to be eligible for the good insurance, but if you do, it really is good. The deductible is lower than most, and the price is better than most also.
You get a free membership as an employee of Equinox.
"There is no health insurance for maintenence and locker room employees. There is no vacation or sick time unless you get on your hands and knees and beg for it and it is ussually turned down unless you bring a note from the doctor, imagine that! This is essentially the most greedy slave driving corporate entity out there. Even McDonalds gives there part time employees health insurance. For a company whose mission is the promotion of health and fitness they have a sure funny way if showing it to the people who are on the front lines doing the really hard work! The Executive Chairmen & CEO, you know who they are, should be ashamed of themselves!
