The "take the time you need" policy is very unfair because the amount of time you can take off depends on your role and your manager. My first role was in sales, and taking time off was a nightmare. Now that I am in a non-sales based role with a more relaxed manager I can take much more vacation time, which is unfair to the sales reps.
Health/Dental/Vision insurance benefits are in line with industry norms. We finally added 401k matching in 2018. "Take The Time You Need" is a vacation policy that needs to be rethought: there are no minimums to ensure people are maintaining a healthy balance between life and work, and your time off is entirely at your manager's discretion. It's wonderful if you have the right manager and a nightmare if you don't. Catered lunches and dinners are a big time saver. Be aware that leave policies vary between San Francisco and other offices - much of the provided leave is required by state law and therefore unavailable to employees outside California. Other less useful benefits include (for-fee): in-office yoga, chiropractic, massage, and acupuncture. I'm not sure why we had these and not 401k match for the last 5 years, but there you go.
Aside from the benefits listed below, they also offer health and wellness stipends, and unlimited time off.
"Take the time you need" is and always will be a trap. When you ask for time off, you will be frowned upon and the company gets to keep accrued vacation time off their books. Awful.
List based on reports from current and former employees. It may not be complete.
