The benefits package is not great. The current medical insurance provider is very ummm, cheap? The minimum of services is covered. The dental plan is ok. The eye coverage is great.
Cost of health increasing; recently acquired by Harris corp so benifits will change.
Exelis matches .50 cents to the dollar, up to 6%, they automatically contribute 3% regardless if you choose to contribute or not. Recently switched to Voya for retirement plans. Health care is through Cigna and MetLife for dental. Both have reasonable plans with options of opening a Health Savings Account. Vision is also available. They offer up to $130 pre-tax in commuter benefits for metro. Up to $6k in tuition assistance per year. Up to $3k in personal computer loan. Many other opportunities depend on client and site. I have the opportunity to telework if I so choose. Overall I'm very happy with Exelis and my benefits.

UPSIDE: Excellent defense contract company. Focused on the military. Excellent veteran employer and community focused. Engages employees with town hall style meetings. Recognizes employee efforts. Managers are fair. DOWNSIDE: In order to increase salary to competitive wages, employee must leave and work some place else. External job postings offer much higher wages for same job than internal hire.
Cigna has been a great Health care provider
The 401K is decent, the healthcare provider was changed from Blue Cross/Blue Shield to Signa which was a downgrade
Competitive benefits package moderately high cost
There is no variety as far as benefits go. Health insurance is with Cigna PPO with a very high deductible and out-of-pocket maximum. You can choose to open a Health Savings Account (HSA) where pre-tax money goes into the account and can help offset the high medical costs when you need. They also offer incentive dollars you can earn toward your HSA by completing wellness/healthy living goals up to a maximum of $800 per year. Dental and vision plans are okay, slightly better than average. 401k is with Prudential Retirement and Exelis will match employee contributions up to 10% (company contributes $0.50 for every $1.00 the employee contributes). A $50,000 health insurance policy is included as long as you are employed by the company. You can choose to purchase additional voluntary life and accidental death & dismemberment insurance, but company does not pay for this.
The company offers a comprehensive benefits package from Health insurance to 401k, to paid vacation. Unfortunately, the benefits have been on the decline in the last few years. Especially the vacation benefits have eroded over the last few years such that little 80 hours can be carried over from year to year.
