Job training depends on supervisor and position held.
Safety training is at the top of the list here. Technical training is offered/granted depending on your current role. Basic leadership training is expected for all "exempt" employees. Enterprise-level training is reserved for "high flyers". XOM is trying to evolve this model to develop younger employees to account for a mid-career "talent gap" in the E&P industry, so we'll have to see how subsequent management generations choose to guide younger staff.
There are lots of training sessions available that can be taken
If you do not know how to do something, Exxon will find someone to teach you or they will send you to a class.
