    Ability to accrue lots of vacation and paid time off but depending on where you go it may be difficult to get time off and you do not want to use it while in training.

    For federal service you start off earning 4 hours per pay period (2 1/2 weeks), after 5 years you earn 6 hours per pay period (3 1/2 weeks) and at 15 years you earn 8 hours per pay period (5 weeks). Your vacation can roll over to the next year as long as you don't go over 240 hours.
