There's no maternity leave, pay raises are low.
Fcc field horrible management, the field will most likely become extinct.
Government benefits are quite generous
As a federal employer, the FCC offers terrific health benefits, vacation time, and sick leave benefits. They also have a reasonably good retirement plan via the TSP program.
Standard federal benefits with special perks - gym attached to building with shower-only membership option, afterhours shuttle to several metro stations, and generally a telework-friendly environment.
The pay is nowhere near equivalent to private sector pay for professionals (attorneys, engineers, economists, etc.), and there is ZERO maternity leave. Vacation accrual is better for more senior staff (after 15 years, accrue 8 hrs/pay period). While the agency does have a telework policy in place, is it absolutely NOT implemented equally or even consistently throughout the agency - who your manager is determines how much work flexibility you have.
It's all really really great
Consistent across all levels. Steady advancement opportunities.
