with so much "decentralized decision making " every manager has different standards making it tricky to deal with real issues.
Good, if you're willing to stay at the same branch.
They work hard to attempt to develop people, but some people are not cut out for the job. Fastenal almost refuses to fire employees let's them continue to fail, to the detriment of other employees
there is no performance reviews or job evalutations. there are no raises
Does not exist. You can go from a part time employee (10.00/hr) to sales trainee (25K/year) to sales associate (36K/year) to store manager (40K-50K/year) all within a year, but that's where it ends. If you want anything else, your moving to Winona to do some serious brown nosing.
Unless you are already in a managerial role, most all movement is laterally
You get out what you put in. You can do trainings if you like, but there's no guarantee for advancement.
I cannot comment on this aspect of the company.
