Considering this is retail, their vacation & paid time off was not bad. However, because it is retail, its not the greatest.
Recently, after developing a debilitating case of food poisoning, I requested the day off. My employees could not cover as they were out of town, and my direct supervisor refused to cover. I was told I must work the 11 hour shift or I would be terminated. 1 hour after opening the store, I was found by a Fedex delivery driver passed out behind the counter. After being taken to the hospital and notifying my Regional Sales Director, he then "somehow" found coverage. Later that day, he called me to ask if I would be able to cover the remainder of the day since I had discharged. This is the extent of how sick time works. Unless you can predict when you'll be sick, or you pass out in your store, you ain't getting to use it. Almost 25% of the calendar year is a black out for taking vacation, and your RSD can black out anytime he wants. Any vacation time not used is lost at the end of the calendar year, which for GNC is March of every year.
5 days off plus 30 hours of sick pay
