There are great options for health benefits.
Too much money for horrendous benefits
Health care is incredibly expensive, more so than packages offered by other employers. The best thing about our benefits is the time off, 14 weeks a year.
Time off is the best thing. I do not participate in the insurance. They do have a GISD clinic available to their staff and their families for $10 a visit for minor illness.
The district has many benefits, but the health insurance is not the best. Most employees decide to use other insurances with better coverage.
It costs a fortune and doesn't have good coverage, but that's the same for everyone in the state.
The benefits package at Garland Independent School District does not differ wildly from other Texas districts because the insurance choices are dictated by the state.
They have VIP vision benefits which is the best.
Insuring your family will cost you 1/3 - 1/2 of your monthly paycheck.
The time off is great, but the benefits are expensive and not very good in my opinion. They use to offer free health insurance but not anymore.
List based on reports from current and former employees. It may not be complete.
