In accordance with the Family Medical Leave Act of 1993 as amended, Electric Boat will grant up to 16 weeks of unpaid leave in a 12 month period to eligible employees for an employee's serious health condition, to care for a spouse, parent or child with a serious health condition, for the birth of a child or placement of an adopted or foster child or for exigent circumstances related to the fact that an employee's spouse, son, daughter or parent has been called to, or serving on, active military duty.
Family Medical Leave is in accordance with federal and state laws. If it were not, EB would get in trouble. But they aren't required to provide any more than that, so of course, they don't.
