Maternity leave is paid if it's concurrent with medical leave (generally 6 weeks for vaginal delivery or 8-12 weeks for a c-section). Paternity leave is 100% unpaid. Both must be taken as a single chunk of time, i.e. it can't be used throughout the year or to return to work at only 50%.
