The accrual plan is good earning 4 wks after 10 years. But 20 yrs to get the 5th week. Paid time off is for hourly and is one week per year. People seem to be satisfied with these plans.

Employees need to be there five years to get 3 weeks' vacation, and ten years for 4 weeks. There are six sick days per year. For both vacation and sick days, if you haven't used them by the end of the year you lose them. They are also very inconsistent, in that in some departments you can "make up" time, for example if you have a doctor's appointment at 4:00 p.m. and have to leave at 3:00, you could start work early and take a shorter lunch so that you don't have to use up your sick leave; yet in other departments that is frowned upon. It depends on the department supervisor/manager.
