Getting any paternity leave in America is wonderful. I got two weeks and had the option of splitting the weeks, in case I needed to supplement something at the end of the first year. Remember in this country your wife probably blows through her time off during pregnancy and doesn’t have any accumulated for the next year. If you have an older child, this can bridge the gap between summer and school if both parents work.
