Prior to my start of work, the university use to allow accumulation of vacation and paid time off or a way to get paid for those unused days. Unfortunately this is not the case anymore.
The academic schedule is flexible and has summer and spring/xmas breaks
I loved it. Maternity leave, vacation, and PTO, and state holidays, and federal holidays. We had great insurance, it was super wonderful.
A lot of paid holidays for staff, including spring break day, christmas break week etc. 4 weeks vacation after 5 years, 12 sick days per year (can save up if not used)
Based on years of service. Hours earned per pay period. After a year you are eligible for one week which you forfeit if you don't take. To earn a respectable amount of vacation you need to serve for five plus years. I have heard of people just taking days off as vacation just so they won't forfeit it.
HPU does not allow staff to take most of the state holidays. Faculty of course have 3 months off in the summer, unpaid, but they can't teach anywhere else without a prior permission. There is no sabbatical.
