Great company to work for! -401K, 9/80 schedule (work everyday 9 hours and the second Friday you get it off), work parties, good cafeteria, new building and there's a gym!
Benefits are really expensive and mediocre quality at best. 9/80 schedule is a nice perk for some.
The benefits are not that good and expensive.
OK benefits. Recently slashed medical coverage. Can accrue 130 hours sick time and rolls over year on year which is great.
One of the best perks is being able to choose to work an alternate work schedule. They offer 9/80 ( work 9 days for 80 hours, then get every other Friday off). You can also choose to telecommute one day a week instead, or just come in every day for a standard work week.
Very good health insurance! There are different options to help your budget and needs. But also, the vacation/sick time is very generous. And, they strongly encourage you to actually use all your vacation. After one year you can take a free cruise. I like how they automatically enroll you in their 401(k) so you can start some retirement savings. They have a lot of options to help -- from an Employee Assistance Program, to connections with financial planning, legal help, etc.
401K, free vacation travels once a year (space permitting)
when working with HAL I have been able to see the world. I work with a tight group of staff. The work can at times be stressful but there is a good amount to downtime and time off the ship to explore different ports. The hours can be long and yes you are working 7 days a week and yes there are sometimes a lot of children on board the ships but its not often that there are a lot during the "off season" so its actually really nice working for HAL. HAL also pays for you travel, you will get reimbursed for most of your travel with is really nice since most travel pretty far to get to where the ships are.
One-night cruises when they transport trips from Seattle to Vancouver B.C.
Medical coverage only when on board, horrible when on vacation. Best thing is travel for free when working. Worst thing would be the flight arrangements or lack of healthy nutrition / emphasis on work only.
