You choose your own hours.
You can give them your availability and you aren't expected to work outside of it. However, you have to be careful because they will put you in shifts that fit your availability without telling you, so you need a start and end time for each day if you don't want any surprises. Shifts are mostly 3 hours and a lot of times that's all you'll get in a day. If a client cancels a shift, goes in to hospital, or dies, you are just off if there is nothing else and you don't get paid, even if you are ready and wiling to work, there is nothing you can do.
Hours are very flexible. You can pretty much pick and choose when you do and don't want to work.
The best thing about flexible hours is that it fits your schedule. So you can work the days and hours that you are available
Time off is easily granted
Just know if you don't work of course you don't get paid. No PTO or sick leave
If you are sick you can go home early, also are flexible with approving additional time off.
You can get as few or as many hours as you desire, however, most of the "over 15 hour" shifts are awake overnight.
