What attracted me to Hoopla was the people and the opportunities for professional development at a company with an awesome product. But the added bonus was learning about the benefits and start-up company perks that Hoopla offers. Hoopla is extremely generous when it comes to benefits and their contribution toward the ever rising healthcare costs, which saves me $$$ and provides my family with exceptional healthcare. Hoopla offers also a FSA and 401k option for employees to contribute to. As Hoopla is an early stage start-up, they don't offer a 401k match but I haven't found a start-up in the Bay Area to ever offer a matching program, so this wasn't a surprise. Hoopla has an amazing time-off program that reflects 4 weeks of paid time off each year. A lot of companies are moving away from paid time off programs so it is refreshing to know that Hoopla still values employees taking time off to relax and reset during the calendar year. Hoopla's office reflects a traditional start-up environment with an open seating area and fully stocked kitchen; I can even request various snacks I would like to have stocked in the kitchen. We have an espresso machine that saves me from walking to Starbucks, however if I fancy an afternoon Frappuccino, Starbucks is only a block away. Lunch is provided for all employees twice a month following our Company Update meeting. Employees eat lunch together in our kitchen a lot but it is really nice for us to eat lunch as a company together. Since our Culture Ambassador joined early in 2015 we now have our Hoopla Hands giving program, where all employees are encouraged to volunteer 20 hours a year either through company-organized giving back opportunities OR through activities of our choice. It is refreshing to work at a company that values giving back and making a difference in our local community. We also have a lot of FUN -- this afternoon we are having a Hot Cocoa / Ugly Sweater party where employees can spike their cocoa of choice, and frost cookies! The FUN never stops at Hoopla ;-)
The benefits package is standard for the Bay Area, but company holidays are very limited.
