It is state benefits so it is some of the best. You will have PERSI for your 401k and about 10% of your check is placed in there. You can optionally add more or add a different plan on top of it if you want too.
Overpriced and decent coverage, still quite a bit of money out of pocket for anything healthcare wise.
Dept offers health, vision, dental, and pension. Military leave is offered but only after paid time off is exhausted.
Health Insurance is affordable and leadership works to keep it that way. However, there are no options other than Blue Cross of Idaho. Dental insurance is an elect or deny coverage option only. The pension fund has a high required contribution, but the state match still exceeds the amount contributed. IDOC offers separate Vacation and Sick leave, which has benefits and restrictions, especially related to accrual and carry over year-to-year.
If you consider salary as part of teh benefits they are poor. However, you are completely vested after 5 years
I lived there, so I got 3 squares and a cot. The Recreation Center is much nicer than at Idaho Correctional Center (which was run by Corrections Corporation of America, until they were essentially run out of the State for illegal business practices).
The retirement plan, PERSI, is great. After 5 years you are vested. The medical package is pretty good except for the eye care.
