Important work being perused by the institute.
The organization provides a comprehensive health care insurance with generous matching of 401 k employee contributions, maternal/paternal leave, family medical leave, etc.
Very flexible work environment. The benefits package is pretty standard -- decent health care, 401k matching, PTO, maternity and paternity leave, etc. No negatives to be stated regarding the benefits package at J Craig Venter Institute.
Prices keep going up and the benefit offering is getting worse.
401K match is very helpful
health and dental insurance has degraded every year. high deductibles and definite more out of pocket expenses.
The vacation/sick leave package is not bad (though mostly for employees who were grandfathered into the old system). The health insurance plan has gotten steadily worse, with less coverage and more cost being put on to the employees.
Best - good medical coverage for a decent price. Worst - gets more expensive every year.
The benefits changed drastically in 2016. The 401k remains good as does LIfe, but Health, dental, prescriptions are all terrible. Very very sad. Oh and they have started charging for parking, which is absurd. This is an institute not a university and more importantly with an indirect rate that should be able to absorb this cost.
they match 50:50 in a 401k and the health care is a good PPO plan
