Because I worked in the school, most days off were already built into the calendar for me. I also got snow days but my personal/vacation days during the year were more limited than at a non-school employer.

It was a typical paid leave policy. I did not have any paid leave for the first 6 months. No paid leave was difficult during forced closings due to extreme weather when I had no alternative. The policy also encourages employees to go to work when sick.

    # of days of vacation time varies based on years of service. Vacation time rolls over/accumulates, but there is a cap to the number of hours you can accrue. Biggest problem is finding the time to take off. Different departments have different rules for using vacation time.

Vacation time is very generously accrued and it is fairly easy to request time off for most departments
