During the six month probationary period sick leave use is allowed but vacation pay is not allowable until the probationary period has been completed.
Recently they did away the rule that you couldn't take any vacation time until you've worked at the county for 6 months. In the IT department you accrue 1 sick day and 1 vacation day per month. You also get 2 discretionary days and 10 vacation days.
You will accrue 13 sick and 13 vacation days in the first year, even as a temp (you do need to work at least 6 months use or get vacation cash out. Sick hours can ben used as they are earned.
I think Vacation and Paid Time Off is fair and competitive. If you do not use your vacation after a period of time it will be taken away.
Generous PTO and Sick Leave. Plus employees can share/pool hours for those in need of hours in long term situations.
12 days a year paid vacation plus two bonus personal days is pretty good.
King County has a graduated vacation time based on seniority that can be cashed out when an employee retires or separates.
3 hours a pay check is earned
Very typical, all but 2 holidays off.
