LLNS provides parental leave benefits which are governed by Federal and State Laws which includes programs mandated by the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), California Family Rights Act (CFRA) and the Pregnancy Disability Leave Act (PDL). In addition, employees can opt to enroll in an employee-paid Supplemental Disability Income insurance program which provides up to 70% of eligible income during a leave due to a qualified medical condition. Employees are also given the choice to use sick and/or vacation leave to supplement state paid benefits.

Paternity leave was very beneficial to our family. It was offered by the state and supported by LLNL.
This is a valuable benefit to many of our young employees; dads get paternity leave as well as the moms. It would be nice if they had equal amounts of leave.
They only offer the basic coverage through the state of California. You can buy additional coverage, but it's still really not enough. And signing up is hard. Benefits isn't much help.
It's nice to know that I have this for when I start to have a family.
Better now that LLNL is run by LLNS and employees can participate in State of CA disability/leave programs.
